AC Shadows Unveils Bizarre AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that defies traditional forecasts, the game developer has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Revealed
According to the official announcement, "An unusual encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where rumors of banned rituals and terrifying metamorphoses resonate through the darkness." The narrative introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret group.
The adventure focuses on "peculiar trials and a terrifying adversary" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Metamorphoses
The trailer showcases the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer ends with a dramatic moment showing a character, probably the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Extra Material
Players who successfully complete the mission will receive an unique katana in addition to several artifacts secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Addition
This patch also introduces the game's latest no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature techniques: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Japanese Animation Collaborations
This signifies hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime series. The series formerly included a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly included a quest that obviously referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
