It's difficult for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the record chasers, are the only things left for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to hold a record if not afforded the possibility.

Finally, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not come up short.

Whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort can be debated.

Certain people claim the case for the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was far harder to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this performance was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it was a frustrating experience because it appeared I lacked timing completely," said Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your fighting spirit activate and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, sort of got me going," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was out the team required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I am glad we have the belief to achieve that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this championship need to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she regretted not playing through the pain.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have delayed consideration of ending her career, this championship is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as leader.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
